How many lost keys come back?
Thousands of lost keys are sent back in Switzerland every year – roughly 90-95% of all keys lost. With this system, your chances of getting your keys back are as high as they get.
Does the key finding service work abroad as well?
It works abroad too – certainly throughout Europe. It does of course depend on the person who finds them, but keys have come back from overseas as well.
Does the key finding service renew automatically?
No. When the guarantee period comes to an end, we write to you in good time to invite you to renew. There is no obligation to do so.
Can I release every shopping trolley with the tag?
Yes – you can release any trolley where the coin is pushed in from the front. Trolleys that take a coin dropped in from the top cannot be opened with the tag. Migros, Coop, Aldi, Lidl and many others have trolleys the tag works with. Push it all the way in, pull it straight back out, and the chain lock should release – give it a little help if needed. Then shop as usual.
Is there anything to pay for having the keys returned?
No – with us everything is included. All services are fully covered: address changes, replacement of lost tags and return postage.
If I lose the tag, do I have to buy a new one?
With other providers you have to order a new key tag. Not with us. Let us know and we will send you a new one free of charge.

How does the finder know what to do?
The tag tells the finder to drop the keyring into the nearest post box. Most people simply do it. We then contact you and your keys come straight back to you by post. Sometimes the finder contacts BIK directly. We let you know immediately.
Can I transfer the service to someone else?
Yes, you can. Contact us with your key tag number and we will change it – by email or by phone.
How can I find out whether the service is still active?
The service is normally valid for 8 years. Please check your guarantee card first. When it expires, we write to you to ask whether you would like to renew. If you can no longer find your card, email us your tag number or numbers, or call us during office hours, and we will let you know.
What do I need to do to change my address?
On the home page, click Change of address, or go straight here and send us your new address details.

Our service includes a thorough annual address update carried out together with Swiss Post. Please get in touch with us anyway whenever your address changes. Better safe than sorry.
What would happen if your company no longer existed?
Our company has been going for more than 40 years, built on the dedication of people who have kept it viable since 1982. With more than 250,000 customers, we will be able to go on providing our services for decades to come.
Is my data used for other advertising purposes?
No – your data is treated confidentially. It is NOT accessible on the internet. It is used ONLY internally and is not passed on to third parties. For security reasons we never put address lists or key number lists online. Never betraying that trust is certainly part of our success.
